September

September’s focus is on building and maintaining strong relationships with students — not just in the first week, but all year long.
Relationships are the foundation for everything else we do as teachers. When students feel valued, safe, and connected, they’re more willing to take risks, engage in learning, and work through challenges. In this month’s video, you’ll see simple ways to connect with students you already know well and those you may still be learning about — from quick daily check-ins to interest-based lessons that make learning personal.

You’ll also see how this work connects to the district’s instructional focuses, like modeling your thinking, encouraging purposeful peer discussion, and making student understanding visible through exit tickets.

Below, you’ll find your September newsletters on Building Relationships and Maintaining Relationships, along with practical tools like the Strategies for Building Relationships resource. Use these to plan intentional, realistic actions that make every student feel like they belong in your classroom.
